    Bundle Description
This HUGE resource is aligned with NGSS MS Life Science LS2 Strand and CCSS for 6th Grade Reading Informational Text. This resource is a BUNDLE of other resources on ecosystems combined together here and reduced by 20%.

This resource is designed to address the Disciplinary Core Ideas for NGSS Ecosystem: Interactions, Energy and dynamics.

This resource includes hands-on activities, nonfiction passages for close reading activities, response pages with text dependent questions interactive notebook flaps and folds, ecosystem sorting cards with task card activities, an owl pellet lesson, SMART board sort and more. All of these resources are designed to help students learn about ecosystems, food chains, food webs and abiotic and biotic factors that interact and affect ecosystems.

This resource also includes an student directed research project designed to address the hard to teach standards: NGSS MS-LS2-5.

    Science Concepts Addressed:
    Food Chains
    Food Webs
    Flow of Energy
    Predator/Prey Relationships
    Trophic Levels
    Biotic Factors
    Abiotic Factors
    Invasive species
    Endangered species
    Environmental concerns
    Making an argument from evidence
    Obtaining, evaluating and communicating information
    Asking questions
    Designing solutions

These NGSS Standards are addressed in this Bundle:

    NGSS 5-LS2-1.
Develop a model to describe the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment.
NGSS MS LS 2.3 Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.
NGSS MS LS 2.4Construct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations.
    NGSS MS-LS2-5.
Evaluate competing design solutions for maintaining biodiversity and ecosystem services.

Please Note that NGSS LS1 and LS3 are not addressed in this unit.

Science and Engineering Practices Used by Students:
    1. Asking questions (for science) and defining problems (for engineering)
    2. Developing and using models
    3. Planning and carrying out investigations
    4. Analyzing and interpreting data
    5. Constructing explanations (for science) and designing solutions (for engineering)
    6. Engaging in argument from evidence
    7. Obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information

This resource also includes Ecosystem in a Jar, Ecosystem and Food Chain Sorting Cards, and Research an ecological problem.

The following resources are included in this bundle:

Owl Pellet Unit For Sixth Grade

Field Journal Out of an Envelope

    Ecosystem Complete Integrated Unit
