These crossword puzzles and test questions were designed to reinforce your efforts in teaching your students the unit on ecosystems and the various kinds of ecosystems. They also include some questions about the various kinds of living things – animals and plants – that inhabit these ecosystems. These puzzles and questions can be used as homework, an in-class activity, early finisher projects, or even as a test.
Here is a Table of Contents for what you will get:
1) Two crossword puzzles – one on Ecosystem terminology (population, community, habitat, environment, etc.). The second crossword puzzle will cover the types of Ecosystems – desert, forest, grassland, and water – as well as the animals that live in each. Each puzzle will have one page with the clues, a second page with clues and the possible list of answers if you want it to be a little easier for your students, and a third page showing the answer grid. See the thumbnails above for a visual on the second and third pages.
2) A Word Search puzzle containing 18 terms used in describing ecosystems: coastal, community, coniferous, deciduous, desert, ecosystem, environment, forest, fresh water, grassland, habitat, pampas, population, reclaim, saltwater, steppes, tide pool, and tropical rain. The answer grid is also included on a second page.
3) Ecosystem Questions
4) Desert Questions
5) Forest Questions
6) Grassland Questions
7) Water Questions – for 3-7, the questions may take the form of True/False, Fill in the Blank, Match, or a written answer. See the thumbnails above for a visual. In all cases, an answer sheet is also included.
As stated above, an answer sheet is provided for each of the puzzles as well as all of the questions. There are 18 pages in total, 8 of which are answer sheets.
I hope you will find these puzzles and activities to be supportive of your efforts. If so, I would greatly appreciate your review and your thoughts. As always – who says learning can’t be fun!
