Use this Domino Puzzle to help students review the key terms related to ecosystems. This is great review for Biology and Environmental Science classes!

I’ve included the puzzle in two sizes. The two-page puzzle is great for individual students or a pair to solve. Students can take this size home with them to study. The large puzzle requires eight pages and is more appropriate for groups.

I recommend copying the puzzle unto colorful paper and laminating it before cutting out the 24 game pieces. I find this makes it more novel for the students, and they show more respect for the puzzle, so you can reuse it next year.

Students will begin with the domino piece labeled with “Start” and find the piece that has the definition to match with each term until the “Finish” piece is used. All pieces are used and the solution is included (note the shape will change depending on the student, but the order will always be the same).

The terms defined in this puzzle are:

ecosystem, atmosphere, lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, sustainable ecosystem, producer, consumer, herbivore, carnivore, omnivore, scavenger, food web, trophic level, ecological pyramid, biomass, biotic factors, abiotic factors, limiting factor, carrying capacity, tolerance range, photosynthesis and cellular respiration
