This unit explores the Gothic affect of Edgar Allan Poe. The fabricator of the short story and true crime, these thinking activities allow students to understand Poe's aesthetic theory and analyze how his stories achieved such success.
The unit starts with a letter between Dickens and Poe that reveals Poe's theory. Applying to the Cask of Amontillado, Tell Tale Heart and the Raven, it allow students to understand Gothic sentiment.
The writing activity at the end of the text allows a team of students to become Poe and backwards design their own Poe story.
