From Electric English...
This is a take home or in-class activity designed to have students give Poe's, "Hop-Frog" a close reading through the method of annotation. Among other items, the students are expected to find elements of the grotesque, character traits, and words they may not already understand. The students always have a fun time with this activity, this story, and Poe especially :)
NOTE: You will need a hard copy for every student with this activity; it is designed around the idea of write-on reading. This gets children accustomed to the idea that they can put their ideas down on paper, right next to the text they are considering. There is a free copy in the store under Edgar Allan Poe: "Hop-Frog" Full Text.
