This all inclusive activity pack for Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Bells" provides pre-reading, during reading, and post-reading activities for Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Bells." It concludes with an essay asking students to explain how the theme of the work as revealed through tone (using the SIFT method). The first page of a model paper is provided with notes for students.
Answer keys are provided.
It is specifically designed for an 11th grade American Literature class. I believe that the paper prompt would be too complicated for middle school. However, I just have the copy of the text with the annotating notes and guided reading questions available here:
