This activity is designed to show students how the Earth's surface is shaped by Plate Tectonics, using none other than Oreos! Students, ideally under the direction of a teacher, will crack the top cookie of Oreos in half, and use each half as a tectonic plate involved in an interaction. They will draw how their Oreo looks, then answer questions based upon the reading and experiences gained in the activity.
The first page is information and diagrams to demonstrate how plate boundaries and interactions work. The second page, students draw how their Oreo looks. Third page, questions. Fourth and firth pages: vocabulary puzzles (crossword and wordsearch).
Using these cookies, students will demonstrate the following interactions:
-- Continental-Continental Convergent
-- Oceanic-Continental Convergent
-- Oceanic-Oceanic Convergent
To follow up on this activity, there are 11 questions and some vocabulary puzzles!
