I use this as an upper elementary "Write Around the Room" activity. The cards follow a cute made up story of an elf who prepares for a sleigh ride! My students always need motivation to edit and revise and they LOVE working with clip boards moving around the room.
This activity can either be used as a center or as an around the room activity. Personally, I like to hang the ½ page posters around the room in random order and give students the recording sheet. The students are encouraged to use a clip board and walk around the room editing the sentences. In parenthesis, after each sentence, it states the amount of errors to correct. While students are working around the room the task cards are very helpful for a small group or some one-on-one attention to a student who struggles with editing. Walking around the room, while editing, is a great way to keep the students focused, active, and is a wonderful motivational tool.
