What educators are saying

A wonderful resource for our math small groups. The kids loved solving problems where they get to be the star!
Anything Holly creates is well thought out and user friendly! Would seriously buy anything from research and play sight unseen! :)

Description

Word problems are powerful tools for developing addition and subtraction skills. Use these easily differentiated, editable problems with joining and separating (result unknown) skills that also allow your students to choose number sets.

This resource includes everything you need to know to successfully start a word problem routine in your classroom. This particular resource is designed for kindergarten, but you can make your number sets larger and change some wording in the problems to easily adapt this to older grades.

Click here to read in more detail about how I have successfully added word problems into our math routine.

Included are the following items:

How It Works:

7 pages of information for teachers including the materials needed to organize, launch, and make word problems a routine

How to Support:

An If/Then Menu that goes into detail about the most common missteps that kindergartners tend to make during word problems

Editable Word Problems:

  • 21 Joining-Result Unknown problems (Addition)
  • 21 Separating-Result Unknown problems (Subtraction)
  • 7 Change Unknown problems (Addition or Subtraction)
  • All are completely editable, can change names and numbers as needed (using PowerPoint)
