Encourage your students to develop and maintain consistent practicing habits with this fun, year-round incentive! When I started teaching piano, I divided my students into different groups of elementally-themed "mages" and rewarded them with one piece of "mage magic" each week that they practiced five or more times. When they collected six pieces of mage magic, they were able to claim a small prize from the studio treasure chest. Seven years later, this is still a powerful tool to motivate students to practice consistently each week. I hope it will help to motivate your music students as well :)
• 1 page of mage magic tracking templates (four separate charts with six boxes per chart)
• 1 page each of fire, time, earth, water, and lightning magic markers (each page has 24 copies of the respective icon; fire = flame, time = clock, earth = leaf, water = raindrop, lightning = lightning bolt)
• Star template (editable) for students’ names – two different sizes (small and large)
• Mage name banners with text in Latin and the English translations underneath (to give it that Harry Potter-esque, magical feel!) – two different sizes (small and large)
~All components are black and white to allow for cost-effective printing. I recommend printing these on coloured yardstick and laminating for maximum durability
PLEASE NOTE: the document is editable to allow you enter your own students' names on the mage stars. As such, you will need Luminari font installed for all of the text to show up properly. If you do not have Luminari font and/or have conversion issues from Mac to PC, please send me a note and I will forward you a PDF version.
The clipart for the mage magic markers is my own; kindly do not reproduce it for other projects without permission.
