These editable running records are perfect for teachers that have their own set of guided reading books in their classroom, or are able to use the same books year to year.
I have included 2 different templates. The first template is a print and go template.
You are able to print off the template and use checks with any book of your choosing. You can also write down comprehension questions and write in what your child retells.
The second template is completely editable. You are able to enter the book title, level, word count, and date.
You are able to enter each page's text on the lines so you can easily track the text during a running record. You are also able to copy/paste that same text into a retelling sheet for after reading.
Then, you are able to type in your own comprehension questions to match the story.
I have included tips for MSV and analyzing miscues, fluency and comprehension.
I share how to find the accuracy and self correction rates and how to use that to determine a child's independent, instructional and frustration level.
Also included is a cheat sheet of how I score a running record.
The two templates come with two different versions. One template includes a section to track miscues based on meaning, syntax or visual. The other template does not include MSV, just areas to track the reading. Each comes as print and go and as an editable document.
You do need to know how to edit documents and how to resize fonts in order to have the text fit in the boxes. I do share what fonts I used, but you can use any font of your choosing, but may need to adjust the size of the text boxes.
These are perfect for those that don't want to use check marks for a running record, and would rather have the words to track from each story.
I hope you find this helpful!
