This resource was created to provide students with an engaging, hands-on way to practice reading and spelling sight words. These activities are great for morning tubs, early finishers, or literacy centers.
There are two different work mats included. On one mat students will build the word once. On the second mat space is provided for students to build the word twice. You can have students use magnetic letters, dry erase markers, letter beads, play dough etc to build the words.
Also included are 133 pre-made sight word cards (word list below). Optional covers are included so you can punch a hole and store these on a metal ring.
A page of editable cards is included so you can type in your own sight words. Important: To edit this activity you will need to open the file in Adobe. You will NOT be able to edit the activity if you are using your web browser to view the file.
To prepare this activity print, cut apart and laminate the work mats. Print the desired sight word cards. There is no recording sheet, so these activities are great for morning tubs, early finishers, or small group work.
Students will read the word on the card. They place the card on the mat and build the sight word using mini erasers, play dough stamps, dry erase markers, magnetic letters, ect. You could also print two copies and have students play a Memory matching game with the card.
