Editable iPad & Tablet Rules Contract and Student Training Toolkit

This toolkit is designed to help you communicate the importance of responsible iPad or tablet use in your classroom. Whether you are introducing your routines and expectations at the beginning of the school year, or need to revamp your expectations mid-year, the resources in this toolkit make it easy for you to establish a classroom environment where technology is used responsibly.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:

Each of the tools listed below is provided in an iPad and tablet version. Editable and ready-to-print versions of each tool are also included.

★ Training Checklist: This checklist helps students keep track of the important routines and behaviors associated with device use, and helps you keep track of which routines your students have learned during your training. I recommend introducing routines using detailed interactive modeling sessions so your students have a vivid picture of what responsible iPad/tablet use looks like.

★ iPad/Tablet Contract: A formal document outlining the rules of proper device use and etiquette. This contract can be given to students following their completion of the iPad/Tablet License Checklist. It must be signed by each student and his/her parent/guardian. This document can be referred to as needed throughout the school year.  

★ iPad/Tablet License: A printable card for students who master all routines on the training checklist and return their signed contract. This license signifies the training your students complete and serves as a visual reinforcement of their commitment to your classroom device routines. The back side of each license is a perfect place to store usernames and passwords.

★ iPad/Tablet Contracts Binder Cover and Spine: Printable tools to help you create an official binder where you can store your class contracts. Keeping this binder on the device storage area can serve as an additional reminder of students’ commitment to responsible device use.

BENEFITING STUDENTS

You will begin by introducing your expectations for responsible technology use through a student training session. During this training, students will work through a checklist of skills they must be able to demonstrate mastery of.

Once in-class training is complete, students and their parent/guardian will sign your class iPad/tablet contract. This formal document outlines the expectations and etiquette for proper device use and can be referred to as needed throughout the school year.  Students who complete their training and return their signed contract can earn their iPad/tablet license, an official card that serves as a symbol of commitment to responsible device use.
