This is an editing book that focuses on capital letters, full stops and spelling mistakes. It touches on commas, exclamation marks and spaces. I will be adding to this booklet and making a second booklet so if there is anything in particular you would like in it - message me!
We use this within my classroom as a weekly activity (could also be a literacy rotation/fast finisher). Each week we edit an example paragraph on the board before students go off and work by themselves through one page of the book. I have found that our editing booklet has actually encouraged the students to go back and edit their work before submitting it within our day to day classroom lessons.
At the back I have included a blank editing symbols poster, I have also included my own class editing symbols poster. As a class we went through each symbol and when to use them. I have also attached this as the last page of their book.
Page 2- 14 - Students edit the work, re-write it and then illustrate the sentence.
Page 15- 25 - Longer sentences/paragraphs where students edit and then re-write. The last 3 pages also have a blank title for the students to create!
At the start of the term we were very clear that the students had to make their illustrations exactly what the sentence was about - e.g If the sentence is about a girl with a pink hat and blue tights standing next to her dog. The students had to draw a picture displaying this.
