I love writing time...what I don't love is when I send students to double check their work and it takes them two seconds. I created this to help each child improve their writing in a more systematic way. They do this through COPS- capitalization, organization, punctuation, and spelling. Although I do PLENTY of modeling, I've included plenty of visuals so that this can be done independently with more clarity. Students will first do this by themselves with the Self-editing checklist. After that, they will work with a partner to do Peer Editing. Aside from checking COPS, the partners will be led to give compliments, ask questions, make connections. These editing checklists have changed the way I do my writing time!
