Editing can be very frustrating for the students and the teacher. This set will help you to understand why many students do not put effort into their editing and what you can do about it.

I've had lots of teachers tell me the thing they find the most frustrating about teaching writing is having kids edit their work. This set will help you to teach editing in a way that is meaningful to students.

Students need a desire or motivation to edit, a purpose and of course the skills to help them edit and revise.

Once students have self-assessed, it is important that they know what they can do to improve their work next time.

Each Write Trait is written in kid friendly language to help them understand what to look for when assessing their work on a 1-4 level. Each trait also comes with suggestions for students to improve their work if they fall in the 1-2 or sometimes 3 range.

Although this resource shows is designed for a 2/3 level, many of the Writing outcomes range from 1st to 4th grade with slight variations. You may decide you have higher 1's or lower 4's and then this set would be appropriate. Take a look at the sample in the preview for more.
