The dreaded writing process and editing.... let's try to make it fun! This pack includes editing posters and a checklist with a theme "Bandage up the Boo Boos".
I am working more towards self and peer editing in my classroom. I am also using more authentic writing where kids can choose their own topics and spend time working in their writer's notebook.
In an effort to help kids with the editing of their own writing, I have made these editing posters. To make them catchy and engaging, I worked in the doctor/boo-boo theme.
This is a set of 13 posters that display editing suggestions to use while writing. These posters can be hung around the room. There are also 2 title posters. One of the posters says "World's Best Doctor=A paper with no boo-boos"..... basically, it creates the analogy that the kids are the doctors fixing the boo-boos in the paper, and you are a perfect doctor when you have a perfect paper :-)
These posters will work perfectly for a bulletin board, or just hot glue them to the wall. Each poster has an image of a doctor related tool.... bandage, thermometer, crutch, etc....
I have also taken all of the posters and snapped pictures of them and included them on one page if you would like for the kids to keep a copy at their desk. Basically it is a "Doctor's Checklist" for editing.
There are also awards if you would like to use them. You can pass these out if the kids turn in a perfect paper. This may be a rare happening, so it's worth making a big deal about.
