This is a checklist for students to complete the revising and editing phases of the writing process independently mainly for personal narratives--although, you could change it for other types of writing as well.
This checklist uses the acronyms ‘ARMS’ and ‘CUPS’ to remind students of the steps of these phases, as well as having each one broken down more specifically so they can check it off when they have completed it.
Before expecting your students to use this checklist independently, explicitly teach them the steps and expectations of each stage of writing. It is a great resource once they have become familiar with the expectations and expected outcome.
