Product Description
In this short document, I offer a point of view as to the course that curriculum planning on the national, the state, the district, the building and the classroom should take. In general I believe strongly that we should frame curricula in terms of student, not teacher, behaviors. In the end, a child's education consists of those things that he has learned to do - and not necessarily of the things that schools have tried to teach.I take issue with some of the assumptions which have influenced educational planning in the past - most particularly the notion all children are alike and should achieve at some preconceived level. If one takes a more realistic view of the kids in any classroom, an observant person would conclude that "No Child Left Behind" is not only an absurd but also an insidious notion that works against the interests of all of the students in the class.
