Nothing gets my students more excited or engaged than when they spot the Top Secret stamp on a manila envelop, whether they are in grade 2 or 6! Playing detective has a way of focusing their best efforts on the task and pushes them to really use their logical thinking.
This package is designed to support the practice of problem solving strategies, inference skills, and group discussions in ELA and Math lessons. It is not designed to teach these topics. So long as you have a mystery story, you'll find materials in here that work.
This package includes:
-A concept map with ideas of how to engage, present, and practice problem solving and group discussions
-Suggestions of where to find tried-and-true mysteries for ELA and Math lessons. Copies of these stories are not included.
-A sample letter from the Effective Detective Agency to your class
-Printable detective badges and casebooks for students
