PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Student designed controlled experiments using independent/dependent variables and constants.

After seeing a basic recipe for dyeing eggs, students will identify all of the possible variables that could affect how the egg is colored. In groups, they will select one variable to investigate in a controlled experiment.

Background Knowledge: This lesson assumes that students have had experience throughout the year in conducting controlled experiments and working in inquiry groups. It also assumes that they have used the vocabulary independent variable, dependent variable, and constants. These can be confusing ideas for many students, and this activity offers another opportunity to use these concepts.

This is a perfect EGGS-periment to tie in science inquiry around Easter!
