This resource describes and activity where students make a hard-boiled egg mummy! Students measure the mass or circumference (or both) of the egg as the water is slowly removed over time. Have students draw faces on the hard-boiled eggs before they are mummified! The long-term nature of the activity helps to hone measuring skills using balances and metric rulers. The materials and procedure are provided for students to incorporate into their lab notebooks. A graph that plots mass and time can also be incorporated into the students lab notebook. Custom graph paper provided. At the end, the egg is like a rock-hard stone.
Check out a Chicken Mummy (fantastic for a class mummy!)
