One of the main features of a cell is its cell membrane. It is important to note that it controls what comes into and out of the cell. An egg membrane can act like a cell membrane in many similar ways.
In this lab, students will place an egg in different liquids and make careful observations to record the changes to the egg. Along the way, the egg will appear to grow and shrink as it allows materials in and out of it through its membrane.
Great for teaching diffusion and osmosis as well.
