This product contains basic resources for an activity that may be used as an independent learning center or as a tool for grammar instruction in the classroom. Suitable for use in classrooms as young as first grade, this activity reviews the correct use of nouns, verbs, pronouns, prepositions, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, and indefinite pronouns. This activity also reinforces the use of various parts of speech to correctly compose a sentence. This activity includes the use of plastic Easter eggs, thereby making it appropriate for implementation as a spring-themed activity.
To play, the student will lay out the parts of speech cards, with words facing up. Next, the student will choose 3 eggs. The student will open the eggs, read the words, and match each word to its part of speech.
Last, the student will use the words to write his/her own sentence.
This packet includes all directions for teacher preparation, student instructions for playing, and all necessary materials (with the exception of the plastic Easter eggs). While word tags are provided for use in the activity, teachers may choose to modify those words to more closely apply to instruction within their classroom/grade level.
