Happy Easter! Here are some great centers to help you celebrate this holiday! I have included 5 math and 5 literacy centers that are all aligned to the first grade common core but could easily work for second grade also.
Math Centers include:
-Egg-citing Number Neighbors (finding 1 more, 1 less, 10 more, 10 less on the 120 chart)
-Egg-cellent Math (match the number to the correct tens and ones and expanded form)
-Egg-stra Special Two-Digit Subtraction (subtracting tens from two digit numbers)
-Bunny Money (Match the coins to the correct amount)
- Odd or Even Carrot Sort (sort the carrot cards into groups of odd or even numbers)
Literacy Centers include:
-Read the Room (sort the words into short e or long e words)
-Egg-citing Parts of Speech (sort words into groups of nouns, verbs, and adjectives)
-Egg-cited About ABC Order (put the word cards into ABC order)
- Carrot Contractions (match the contractions to the two words that make it up)
-Egg-cellent Punctuation (Sort the sentence cards into groups of asking sentences and telling sentences)
Every center includes a black and white recording sheet. See my preview to get a glimpse of everything this unit has to offer!
I have also included a Family Egg Project. This includes a letter to send home to the parents explaining the project and a large, blank egg to decorate. This is always a favorite of the kids in my class!
