If you are teaching a unit on Ancient Egypt (Ancient Civilizations) at the junior level (grade 4,5,6), this is the GAME for you! It's a quick game you can play before each lesson, as a weekly reward, as an introduction, or just for FUN!
(If you are a Gamer, it is similar to battling in Dungeons and Dragons).
Each tournament battle takes about 10 minutes, but it's set up to be used for as long as a month! It explores the Social Structure (Ancient Egypt), vocabulary of ancient Egyptian weapons and armour, and helps practice mental math (adding up 3 dice). Students challenge each other to a quick tournament (using dice and game cards) and try to earn Victory Points and jars of oil! The teacher (Blacksmith) opens up the shop on occasion allowing the students to upgrade their equipment, and the goal is to see who shall become the class Pharaoh! It is similar to The Game of Knights - which you can see on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/gjXzYBb6mYg
I have used it in my junior classed for a few years, and it is a huge motivator. And let's face it, if students are having fun in the class, then they are open to learning.
