Beginning of Year Eight Strands of Social Studies Activity. This 1 page lesson is designed to familiarize your students with the 8 strands of social studies: Culture, History, Government, Economy, Social Studies Skills, Science, Technology, and Society, Citizenship, and Geography.
It may be a good idea to briefly review and discuss what each strand represents before the activity. Except for one example, we have not included any information as to what the strands represent. Instead, we have your students try to figure it out with the help of the Internet, their textbook, or each other.
The students are asked to do a fun jigsaw project and learn more about the strands. The project can be displayed throughout the year in the classroom.
