This file contains a lesson to teach the song El Coqui, a folk song from Puerto Rico, with an original Orff arrangement and the sheet music. This lesson incorporates singing, reading music on the treble clef staff, playing pitched percussion (xylophones and metallophones), and playing unpitched percussion. It is also a great lesson for teaching AB form. It implements a chord change in a way that is accessible for children as young as third grade. I have used this lesson with my fourth and fifth grade students, and it was a hit! Great song to use for Hispanic Heritage Month!
