This great documentary follows an exploration crew through the highlands of the Andes and the jungle of the Amazon as the origin of the the legend of El Dorado, the history of the Spanish Conquistadors and their interactions with Atahualpa, the religious significance of gold to the Inca along with other religious beliefs of that ancient civilization are explained.
There's a lot of information in the documentary, but it’s not so packed with details that students get distracted from the main themes.

The documentary could inspire good classroom conversations about religion, cultural symbols, systems of government, the history of the Inca and their interactions with the Spanish.
