"El Dorado" is a Colombian legend. The PPT makes a historical connection to the conquest and also has visuals to illustrate the legend as well as a few questions for discussion. This legend ties in nicely with the conquest of the Americas lesson.
According to the legend, an Indian chief took all the gold in his kingdom and threw in a river to keep it away from the Conquistadores. Until this day, people are still scuba diving in Colombia and Venezuela's rivers hoping to find the gold.
