Product Description
This assignment has beginning level students practice weather vocabulary, English writing skills, and Spanish speaking skills by designing a weather forecast, writing a paragraph summarizing weather for a specific Spanish speaking city and country, and presenting the information in Spanish. You can adapt the assignment to your student skill level, though I use it for my beginners. My beginning students learn weather vocabulary before they know much Spanish structure, so I provide the students with an example forecast, written paragraph, and presentation structure to follow/mimic.
Students will
Choose a city in a Spanish speaking country
Research what the typical weather is for this month in the city
Find average highs and lows (these may be in Celsius)
Short description of the climate (Ej: tropical, rainy, dry, humid, etc.)
Look up the next 5-day forecast
Write a short paragraph (4 sentences) in English telling the city, country, chosen and what the weather is like this month.
Design a 5-day forecast and present it to the class in Spanish. Presentation should include the city, country, area of the world in which the country is found, and one sentence about each day.
This document include instructions for students, tips for student success, a rubric to evaluate the forecast, writing, and presentation, and an example forecast/written paragraph/presentation
