This Weather Unit has two different activities to teach weather to students. The package includes
- Vocabulary worksheet with twelve weather expressions and Word bank. This worksheet includes the determinate articles in Spanish el, la , las, los. You can use this worksheet to teach students about gender and femenine vs. masculine nouns in Spanish.
-Ask students to color each weather word in the bingo board using a single color. For example lluvia verde ,sol rojo
-Play Bingo. Read different combinations and write them on the board. You can play for the whole board. All combinations should be written on the board. Ask students to verify their worksheets and correct them as they play. Winners can get homework passes
Once students are familiar with vocabulary you work on Part II- Forecasting Project
-Each student picks a city around the world and they go to espanol.weather.com and get the 10 day forecast for their city.
Attached is a sample of the one for Miami.
-Go over the sample- Point out the basic terms :
-Days of the week- lunes, martes, miercoles, jueves, viernes, sabado y domingo
-Temperatura Maxima- Max. Temp in Centigrades
-Temperatura Minima- -Mininmum Temp in centigrades
-Probability of Rain= Probabilidad de Lluvia %
Each student can play weather man/woman and do fun presentations for their city using the writing prompt to write their report.
