This product has two reading selections from El Valle de los Lobos by Laura García Gallego. El Valle de los Lobos is the first of four novels in her series, Las Crónicas de las Torres, fantasy novels that are written for young adults. There is a brief introduction to the series and the author. The first selection is a page and a quarter long about the day after Dana passes a big magic test and her memories of arriving at school. It has twelve short answer/ free response questions to answer in Spanish. The second selection is a page and a half and is about a nightmare that Dana has which she then realizes is an important memory that she had forgotten. There are 30 multiple choice contextual vocabulary questions and plot questions. There is a free response extra credit question to challenge those students who can connect the pieces of memory and correctly analyze the situation. A full answer key is provided. The selections are well under the one chapter/ 10% fair use rule for copyrighted material and are included with the activities for your convenience. The charge is for the activities only. These activities have worked well in Spanish 4 classes since the writing is a bit challenging, but not as difficult as many stories and novels that are in upper-level textbooks. These selections can also be used while studying identity since Dana reflects on herself as an enchantress and how her life has changed in the first selection and she tries to figure out the true identity of another character in the second selection.
