This Spanish/English alphabet unit uses the book Chica Chica Bum Bum por Bill Martin, Jr. y John Archambault y ilustrado por Lois Ehlert. This is a unit I typically do at the end of the school year as a reinforcement of the alphabet letters we've learned throughout the year. It also incorporates Cinco de Mayo as we learn the Mexican Hat Dance for our year end concert.
This unit can easily be adapted to the beginning of the year to learn letters in preschool or review letters in Kindergarten. The Mexican Hat Dance could be incorporated into Mexico's Independence Day on September 16th.
This unit includes:
Chica chica bum bum Spanish alphabet chant
Two different display suggestions with photos and templates
Over 30 different activity ideas--including alphabet cubes, sandpaper letters, I spy bottles, palm tree game, and puppet art
Directions for the Mexican Hat Dance (a modified version)
Uppercase and lowercase letters with Chica chica bum bum cards
This unit is created by Denise Callen of Los Niños Spanish Preschool
