An interactive board game to get students to practice recognizing color words in Spanish. Encourage students to read their card out loud when drawn. Print out the game board and two or three copies of the playing cards to go with each game board. Students should play in groups of 2-4 per game board. I recommend lamenting the board and cards to hold up best for multiple uses! Students will need a playing piece (I tell students anything small works (erasers, pieces of paper or I hand out paper different colored paper clips). Everyone starts at "empieza". Cards should be in a pile with the word facing down. Someone starts by drawing a card. They move their piece based on what it says (rojo - move to the next red spot, dos rojos = move two red spots forward).
To make the game more interesting there are additional cards! There are 2 "lo siento" cards which make a student lose a turn (or whatever penalty you decide. When drawn "De lunares", "De cuadros" "arco iris" and "De rayas" cards require the student to go to the corresponding spot no matter where they are on the board (can be good or bad!). There are also various bridges that have students follow an arrow backwards or forwards if they land on the spot).
First student to reach "fin" wins. Don't forget to remind students to check other players when they move to make sure they are moving to the right spots!
