This is a short story in the form of a blank comic strip with Spanish narration at the top of each box. It is designed for use in the first week or weeks of a Spanish 1 classroom. The students draw images in order to represent their understanding.
We first practice with the comics as a whole class. I tell them the story using TPRS.
Then, they draw boxes 1-3 and reread it to a partner. We continue as a whole class starting at the beginning and continuing all the way to box 6. Then, they draw boxes 4-6. At the end they practice by rereading the whole story in partners. When they feel confident, students attempt to retell the story only based on their images. Partners have the ability to look at the narration and can ask the storyteller questions in Spanish to prompt.
The second page is a baby step toward reading in the target language. Students read to one another, asking and answering the questions out loud as they go.
This product can be used in conjunction with the digital version I have posted or by itself.
