An inductive grammar lesson to introduce usted and ustedes affirmative and negative commands.
The activity may be completed individually, in pairs, or in small groups. Students read an article giving advice on preventing and treating the common cold and complete a graphic organizer with Usted and Ustedes commands from the text. Then, students examine the language they have highlighted and try to induce the rule for forming usted and ustedes commands and state the rule in their own words.
The text used is an authentic text that I adapted to make it briefer and simplify the language in some areas for my students.
The graphic organizer sheet also includes some follow-up notes on irregulars and on the rules for attaching pronouns to command verbs.
Great alternative to traditional grammar instruction and fits well into units on health/visits to the doctor.
