This anchor chart will help students to elaborate in their informational writing. The phrases on this chart can act as springboards for writers to explain the significance of the information provided from facts, quotes, statistics etc. in their writing. This can be used as an intervention for students who simply list fact after fact in their reports. Or, this chart can be used with the whole class to explicitly explain how writers elaborate on the information that they provide. It can be duplicated for students to glue into their writing notebooks for future scaffolding. This chart goes nicely together with the mentor text titled, "A Slithering Friend" on Teachers Pay Teachers.
