Racing Through Elapsed Time is an exciting math game that will help your students master the skill of solving elapsed time word problems.

Digital and printable versions are included. Players solve elapsed time word problems, and everyone who solves each problem correctly rolls a die to find out how many spaces to move their car on the racetrack. The game has two levels of difficulty, with different word problems for each level. The elapsed time word problems for Level 1 are fairly simple one-step problems. The problems for Level 2 are more advanced and have at least two steps.

The printable game can be played by partners, in small guided math groups, in math centers, or in cooperative learning teams. The digital game was designed for partners, and it can be played in the classroom and remotely from home. Both versions are self-checking. The printable game has QR code answers and a printable answer key, and the digital version includes answers that are revealed by players during the game.

Note: To be fully functional, the digital game must be played on a desktop or laptop computer because the virtual dice script won't work on a mobile device. However, if your students are seated next to each other and they can roll a physical die, they can play the game on a tablet.
