### Description

In this 3rd grade time unit, students learn how to find elapsed time to the 10 minute increment. This third grade unit was designed for students that have some understanding of elapsed time but haven't quite mastered the concept. These elapsed time worksheets, activities, and games are for students on an intermediate level of understanding. There are no elapsed time questions that deal with single minutes (less than 10). The elapsed time questions only ask about hours and 10 minute increments. This aligns with 3.MD.1.

This resource is for students that need extra practice with elapsed time in third grade but would work great for second graders as well!

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

✅5 ELAPSED TIME MINI LESSONS

This unit also includes 5 elapsed time mini-lessons or interactive notebook page with photos showing you how to help students glue the notes into their notebooks. This gives students something to reference when they get stuck or need help while doing homework at home.Students practice learning how to find elapsed time on the number line, with a t-chart, with the backwards N, and by using a clock they can cut out and glue in their notebook to practice with!

✅26 ELAPSED TIME WORKSHEETS

In these 26 elapsed time to the 10 minute worksheets, students use multiple strategies to solve the questions. Students go forward and backward on a number line, use a clock to find the elapsed time, use the start and stop time, solve word problems, use a backwards N to solve, use a t-chart, fill in time table charts, matching, and worksheets where any strategy can be used. There are six worksheets practicing elapsed time on the number line, six worksheets on the t-chart, 4 worksheets on the backwards N, 4 extra "fun" worksheets (matching, fill in the table, etc), and 6 worksheets where students can use any strategy they want!

✅ELAPSED TIME PUZZLES

12 Elapsed Time Puzzles that allow students to practice elapsed time in a game setting. If you print out the black and white puzzles, students are in for a challenge trying to figure out which puzzles pieces go together! If you're looking for something easier, print out the colored version for less pieces that may go together!

✅2 ELAPSED TIME SCHEDULES

Students practice finding elapsed time by looking at their daily schedule in their real life and your schedule in the classroom. I have provided two options for both of these schedules giving you a total of four options to choose from. I have also included example sheets to see what it looks like in action!

✅ELAPSED TIME GAME

It's a game about students that have to stay at school for THE LONGEST SCHOOL DAY EVER! Cut out each of the pieces and mix them up. Students find the START card and have to figure out which place the students should go to in the school based on the amount of time that has elapsed. Students know they have solved the whole thing when the entire school day is in order. There is plenty of blank space at the bottom of each card for students to solve right on the page!

There are 3 elapsed time units:

Elapsed Time to the Hour

Elapsed Time to the 10 Minute

Elapsed Time to the Minute

Why create three units?

Elapsed time is a HARD concept to understand. A lot of students have a hard time diving into elapsed time to the minute right away. I have my lower students practice with elapsed time to the hour and then move them onto elapsed time to the 10 minute, and then finally elapsed time to the minute. It's great to have products that make differentiation easy and not noticeable to the students in your classroom!
