This election unit focuses on the current candidates and issues facing the United States in 2016. It presents students with the remaining two candidates who are each fighting to become our next President. Students will get to know each candidate through activities such as a play adapted from a debate, candidate resumes, and a timeline to the national conventions. Many open ended activities will spark debates and discussions as students not only learn about the candidates, but also the election process and concepts such as campaign slogans, primaries, and electoral votes. A choice chart is also included for students to drive their own learning about this very current topic.
