This 22 page activity will help students work through a step-by-step process to write a campaign speech for four of the top Democrats that have declared their intention to run for president in 2020!
Students will do the following:
Students will begin by researching two pre-selected issues from the campaign websites of Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Andrew Yang. Students will work their way through specific guided questions regarding these two pre-selected issues. Students will also choose one additional issue that they are interested in from the campaign websites to research.
After research on the three issues is completed, students will then work through a step-by-step specific process to write a five part campaign speech. The speech will include the following: an introduction, a section on the first issue, a section on the second issue, a section on the third issue, and a conclusion.
Students will love this creative, yet structured activity! This activity helps students learn about three specific issues important to the four Democratic front runners and write speeches for these candidates! Don't miss this activity!
***Each candidate begins on a new page, allowing you to pick and choose which of the four candidates you would like students to write a speech for. Use all four, or just use one or two of your choosing!
***A rubric is included to make grading the speeches easy and convenient!
