Product Description
Are you looking for a way to teach the United States Presidential Election in a way that gets to the content, but avoids the negativity of the campaign? Are you hoping that your children learn the character traits that make a President a great leader? Do you want to talk about the issues our President will take on while doing so in a safe, bias-free environment?

This Elections Activity Pack is designed to get kids interested and excited in the Election Process without over-exposing them to the scrutiny of the current election. This pack will challenge your students to think critically, to examine the process, and to determine what makes a great President.

Included in this resource are five activities:
What is a Candidate? What Are the Issues? - This activity takes students through the two sides of an issue and helps them decide for themselves what they think about a specific topic.
What Do I Think? - In this segment, students will explain why they believe what they believe. They will be encouraged to step away from what they have been told, and they'll need to defend why they feel the way that they do.
The Character of a President - Students will work through multiple activities to determine the positive and negative traits of a leader. They will choose the four most-desired traits for someone running for President.
Writing Activities - Students will create an acrostic poem, write about the fictional candidate they would nominate for President, and explain why they have chosen certain characteristics of a nominee.
A Presidential Glyph - Students will create a Presidential Glyph with the bust of Abraham Lincoln as the focal point. This is designed to be an Upper Intermediate activity, but it can easily be adapted for the younger grades.
