Think science fair meets presidential election. Host a "Meet the Candidate" display as a great way to inform students and get them engaged in politics and current events. In this project students will create a campaign booth that displays an individual candidate. The responsibilities are broken into five distinct roles that assign specific duties to each student including Campaign Manager, Marketing Director, Graphic Designer, Political Expert, and Data Expert.
The project's final product is an informative booth, but student's have some autonomy on how to reach this goal. Viable options are posters, tri-folds, Google Sites, or other platforms. Project length could vary, but 3-4 class periods should be enough time to complete the research and create displays. This project was created to work with a primary election, but could easily be adapted to work with a general election. It could also be adapted to use student candidates or even made-up candidates.
Included are the project guidelines and required information, as well as a "Meet the Candidate" worksheet and "I voted for..." worksheet.
