Product Description
With the upcoming presidential election, it is important that students understand how the electoral college works. This lesson helps students to see how the number of electoral votes each state has can change based on population. In addition to a basic explanation of this idea, students are given a chart comparing electoral votes for each state in 2000 and 2012. They are instructed to identify states that gained electoral votes, states that lost electoral votes, and states that had no change. In addition, students label a map of the US (also provided), using color to indicate if states changed and if so, by how many electoral votes. To bring closure to this activity, four discussion questions are provided and can be used for the end of class or as a homework assignment. Hey, if you like this, post something, please! It helps me. Thanks. Anthony DeFusto
