Great pre-reading activity to get students interested in a topic they are going to be reading!
If you need a MS Word version of this, please contact me and I can send it via email.
Directions: Have students read each statement BEFORE reading and either AGREE or DISAGREE with the statements. Make sure you emphasize to students that it important that they do not change these original thoughts when they are reading the section. You want them to track what they thought prior to reading and how their thinking did or did not change while reading.
Have students then read the section in their textbook about electricity, and as they are reading have them write down what page they found the information on and whether their prediction was correct.
Also, have them correct any incorrect statements in the reflection column. They can also take down any notes in that column that will help them to remember the information/connect with it.
This activity was designed off of “Holt Science and Technology: Physical Science” Chapter 17, Section 1.
