These labs/builds are fun and interactive for your students. I use a student led approach, where students are given the materials and must figure out on their own how to create the pathways. This allows students to OWN their learning. I typically have students working in teams of three or four. Three seems to usually be the magic number where all stay engaged and involved, but available materials can make a difference in the size of your groupings.
This product contains labs, lab write-ups, quizzes, and end of the unit tests. This is NOT a complete curriculum, but rather a SUPPLEMENT to your science program. My grade level uses a 4th grade textbook from Macmillian and McGraw-Hill. These labs fit in with Unit 6 of that textbook. I found it important to model the lab write-ups to expose the students to college readiness. The students must use the academic/content vocabulary in their responses, and include a sketch of their lab build.
I have provided the answer keys for the lab write-ups, quiz, and unit test.
This supplement meets the fourth grade standards for:
**A discussion about open and closed circuits should occur before the first electricity lab build.
