Included in this set are five activities designed to meet the NGSS third grade standard for electricity and magnetism:
-Ask questions to determine cause and effect relationships of electric or magnetic interactions between two objects not in contact with each other.
-Define a simple design problem that can be solved by applying scientific ideas about magnets.
The labs and activities included are as follows:
-Static Electricity Mad Scientist Hair
-Static Magic (Measurement Connection)
-Opposites Attract But the Same Repel!
-Is it magnetic?
-Magnet Cars (STEM)
All of the labs are hands-on and third grade friendly. The labs require some materials, but most of them are common classroom objects. You will need magnets to use for several of the labs. The labs can be completed in groups, individually, in pairs, or as a whole group depending on your specific classroom needs. Each lab includes the materials needed, directions, and reflection questions. Some labs also have activity sheets where needed.
