This is a two day webquest that uses websites in a scavenger hunt for facts and inquiry experiences involving waves and the electromagnetic spectrum. This activity gives students the opportunity to control variables of a wave to discover wave behavior in different situations. Then students depict the wave and label it's parts. The majority of the lesson focuses characteristics of different waves in the electromagnetic spectrum and their uses. The last section deals with the idea of redshift by demonstrating the doppler effect. The webquest scaffolds questions that facilitate the concept of waves from the physical mechanical waves to the more abstract unseen electromagnetic waves and their behavior.
