Students will learn all about electromagnets with this lab investigation! This activity comes with a READY-TO-GO student response sheet, materials list, lab procedure, and answer key. Students will test how battery size and number of wire coils affect the strength of an electromagnet. This lab has a Test 1-Part A and B and a Test 2-Part A and B. Students will be asked to write hypotheses, identify the different variables, follow a procedure, collect data, analyze the data using a bar graph, and answer questions in order to draw a conclusion from the experiment.
Students will create two different electromagnets: one using a 6-volt battery and one using a D-cell battery. Students will adjust the number of coils to test the strength of their electromagnets.
